Woman Guilty of Criminally Negligent Homicide in Crash

A car crash that knocked a Chalkville man off his riding mower and killed him on his 48th wedding anniversary was more than tragic, authorities said.

It was criminal.

A Jefferson County judge on Tuesday found Lakeisha Posey, 25, guilty of criminally negligent homicide, a misdemeanor, in the April 1 death of John Srofe, 69. District Judge Robert Cahill sentenced Posey to 12 months in the county jail, the maximum, and fined her $2,000.

Posey was taken into custody immediately after Cahill revoked her $3,500 bond. Posey's defense lawyer Katheree Hughes Jr. said he will appeal, saying witness testimony was inconsistent. Posey could be freed during an appeal on $3,500 bond, Hughes said.
